Here are some colorful pictures of different flows that I have simulated in the past.
Asymmetric diffuser:
Square duct:
- Simulated with EllipSys code
- 3D RANS simulation (WJ-EARSM)
- Only the lower-left quadrant of the duct is simulated.
- EARSM is able to predict the secondary flow in the duct (not possible for linear EVMs).
- Results presented in Baungaard et al. (2022)
Actuator line:
- Simulated with EllipSys code
- 3D URANS simulation (\(k\)-\(\omega\)-SST)
- Uniform inflow
- Visualized with Paraview
- Simulated with Incompact3d
- 3D LES simulation
- Uniform inflow
- Grid: \(128\times64\times64\) cells
- Domain size: \(3\times1.5\times1.5\) D\(^{3}\)
- Visualized with Blender
Conventionally neutral boundary layer (CNBL):
- Simulated with EllipSys code
- 3D large-eddy simulation (Deardorff SGS model)
- Case similar to the n04 case from Pedersen et al. (2014)
- Grid: \(256\times256\times128\) cells
- Domain size: \(2.56\times2.56\times1.0\) km\(^{3}\)
- Visualized with Paraview
- Results presented in Baungaard et al. (2024)
Channel flow with spanwise-varying wall temperature:
- Simulated with OpenFOAM
- 2D RANS simulation (\(k\)-\(\omega\))
- Grid: \(1\times256\times128\) cells
- Non-dimensional parameters: \(Re_\tau = 550\), \(Ri_\tau = 0\) and \(Ri_h = 120\)
